Announcements

My name is Ed Carlyle and I am delighted to be the Executive Headteacher of Titchmarsh Church of England Primary School. I warmly welcome you to our school website, which I hope will give you just a flavour of some of the amazing things we do at this wonderful school.

Building Friendships....Inspiring Confidence.…Creating Futures….Nurturing Faith - this is our motto and very much our vision for our school - we are determined to ensure that our pupils get the very best we can give them and that they leave us with a wide and deep range of skills and achievements that will set them up for successful lifelong learning. As a Church School, we have chosen the Parable of the Good Shepherd (Luke:15) as our core value - everyone in our community matters and we all work together to ensure that each and every child with us gets the most from their time with us. We know all of our children as individuals and we go out of our way to make sure they all flourish and succeed.

Some of the comments from our December 2020 Parents' Survey sum up what it is like to be part of Titchmarsh Church of England Primary School:

‘You are a nurturing, caring and supportive school’

‘Generally very impressed with the ethos and quality of education and the level of support at the school’

‘My child is excited to go to school every day - I think that speaks volumes about the school’

'I think what makes Titchmarsh is the personal touch in everything. Nothing beats the community and family feel.'

This is a great school. I think so, the parents think so and, most importantly, the children agree. The best way to find out for yourself to come and visit us and see us in action. On behalf of the children and staff, I would like to personally invite you to come and visit us - please contact the School to make an appointment or keep an eye out for the forthcoming events. Our Titchmarsh School Calendar is available on this site and has all of the key events for the rest of the year so you don't have to miss out!

In the meantime, I am sure that our website will give you a wonderful glimpse into life at Titchmarsh Church of England Primary School.

Mr Ed Carlyle
Executive Headteacher

ONLINE SAFETY

Have you heard about an online character called Huggy Wuggy from a game and TV show called Poppy Playtime? The animated character goes by the friendly name of Huggy Wuggy, leading parents and children to believe the videos are aimed at youngsters and contain no inappropriate material. However, the blue bear-like creature with sharp teeth chases and threatens other characters in nightmarish scenarios, leaving many children upset and frightened.  The character is from the cast of Poppy Playtime which is described as a ‘survival horror, logical puzzle video game’. Huggy Wuggy is the villain within the game.

The game involves staying alive in a horror puzzle adventure. This game is not suitable for primary aged children as it contains some frightening and disturbing content that is very upsetting to view. The Poppy Playtime game is available on the App Store and Android store and has a PEGI 12 rating, meaning it is only suitable for people over 12. To put this into context Minecraft has a rating of PEGI 10 meaning it is only suitable for people over 10.  Toys representing the characters from Poppy Playtime are sold on Amazon. The Huggy Wuggy character has also been recreated on Roblox, a virtual community where users can create their own 3D worlds with their own game players.

Please see our newsletter section for a range of factsheets and advice regarding online safety for your children.

Our Prayer for Black History Month

Compassionate God

who sent Jesus Christ

to deliver us from all manner of injustices and inequalities,

create in us new hearts and enlarged visions,

to see the image of God in every person

irrespective of background, race and ethnicity.

May we be generous in our love of others

as we work towards ending misunderstanding, racism and injustice; creating

communities of human flourishing,

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

We have been awarded Music Mark and we are delighted!! Well done, everyone, for all your hard work in helping us achieve this!! We look forward to when we can have sharing assemblies to show off our musical skills!! Thank you to everyone for their work in developing Music in the school.

Mental Health Day was Sunday October 10th!

If you missed it, here are some links you might find useful:  The Optimistic October Calendar - this is packed with hints and tips to help you make the most of this month:

If you fancy sharing a 2 minute video clip about resilience with your children or young people, check this out -

I like what Beano says  ‘Everyone sees my mischief, no one sees my emotions.’ Does that sound familiar?  We may talk about ‘children’s behaviour’ and that it isn’t acceptable – maybe it feels a bit tricky working with a child’s emotions, this video might help with those conversations.

Another recommended site with resources about Mental Health is Free practical mental health resources | Charlie Waller Trust.

We hope you find these resources useful! Please come and talk to your child's class teacher if you have any questions or concerns!
